The Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) is a species of swallow from the family Hirundinidae. They are closely affiliated with water and prefer to live in open habitats with a nearby wetland. Its breeding range is distributed throughout North America. The wintering range extends along the Pacific and Gulf Coasts from the southern United States to South America. Vagrant tree swallows are sometimes found in the Arctic Circle, Greenland, and Europe.

An aerial insectivore, the tree swallow eats a variety of invertebrates including dragonflies, beetles, mosquitoes, and spiders. The insects taken are a mix of aquatic and terrestrial organisms. Tree swallows are also known to eat berries and fruit when prey is scarce, allowing them to winter farther north than any other swallow in North America.
