"Komodo Dragon" is the 13th episode of Season 5 of the PBS Kids show Wild Kratts. It is the 129th episode of the series overall. It premiered on June 15, 2018.

Synopsis[]

The Kratts are in the swamp hanging out with brown and green anoles. Meanwhile, they get an alert that Gourmand is going to Komodo Island. So the Wild Kratts travel to the island of Komodo to stop Chef Gourmand from cooking Komodo dragon eggs. To succeed, the team will need to use Komodo Dragon Powers.

Plot[]

It's early morning in the cypress swamps of Florida and Koki is doing her daily villain monitoring where she checks all the villains' activity. So far, Donita Donata is in her mansion not really doing much to be concerned about. Zach Varmitech is out of action because his jet crashed after the Wild Kratts' last encounter with him. As for Gaston Gourmand, he's heading for an island near Indonesia called Komodo Island. For some reason, the word "Komodo" reminds Koki of an animal; but she can't quite put her finger on it. She asks the Kratt brothers who are outside with some American anoles and they confirm that the animal she's thinking of is a Komodo dragon. When Koki mentions that Gourmand is heading to Komodo Island, Chris and Martin immediately become concerned that the Komodo dragons may be in trouble. The team is about to take off, almost leaving Aviva behind. She's not happy about that, but her whole mood changes when Chris mentions Komodo dragons and how they may need Komodo Dragon Power discs when they arrive at the team's initial destination.

Meanwhile, Gourmand has already landed on Komodo Island and is ready to collect Komodo dragon eggs for his latest culinary scheme, but he's not alone. Zach has hitched a ride with his fellow villain to be taken home and sees coming to Komodo Island as an unnecessary pit stop. But, Gourmand is a man on a mission. He's set on finding the best places to dig up all the Komodo dragon eggs he can find on the island. And he won't let anything stand in his way.

As the Wild Kratts land on the designated island, they discover an adult Komodo dragon as he preys on a water buffalo. While Jimmy Z retreats to the safety of the Tortuga, the Kratt brothers and the girls follow the giant lizard to a rotting carcass and another Komodo dragon. A brawl over the meal ensues and watching the lizards pumps Chris and Martin up the desire for Komodo Dragon Power, but Aviva and Koki are already on it as they dash back to the ship. As Aviva begins programming, Koki deploys the Fly Cam to find Gourmand and uncover his dastardly scheme.

Elsewhere, Gourmand enlists Zach to use his Zachbots to dig up all the Komodo dragon eggs from their nests underground. And through the lens of the Fly Cam, the Wild Kratts are horrified to hear the wicked chef plan to use the eggs for a big breakfast buffet. This urges Aviva to work faster on programming Komodo Dragon Power.

Back outside, the Kratt brothers are trying to figure out the whereabouts of baby Komodo dragons when Gourmand and Zach come their way and they scurry up the tree to hide. As the bros watch the bad guys dig up the precious eggs right before their eyes, Martin suggests that they take action. But Chris knows that confronting the villains with human powers risks them if being captured. That's why they need Komodo Dragon Power. As they wait for Aviva to wrap things up with the discs, the brothers find exactly what they are looking for: Komodo dragon hatchlings. It turns out that baby Komodo dragons retreat to the safety of trees after hatching to being eaten by adults because they are cannibals. Aside from that, the hatchlings are the perfect DNA source to activate Komodo Dragon Power as soon as the brothers get the discs. Now they're powered up, Chris and Martin are ready to confront the villains, but they have to find the bad guys first.

  • Large Komodo dragons don't climb trees because they're too big and heavy.
