"Our Blue and Green World" is collectively the 5th and 6th episode of Season 7 of the PBS Kids show Wild Kratts. It is the 163rd and 164th episode of the series overall. It premiered on April 1, 2024. It is a two-parter episode, originally airing as a one-hour Earth Day special.
Synopsis[]
While doing their annual Laundry Day, the Kratt Brothers disagree on what’s better: blue oceans or green forests. They’re disagreeing much more than usual. The others try to stop their bickering by demonstrating how oceans and forests work together to make our living planet, just like Martin and Chris need to keep working together. Can the gang get Martin and Chris back in sync in time to save Planet Earth from Zach and Paisley Paver’s villainous plans?
Plot[]
The episode begins with a live-action segment, which shows the Kratt Brothers displaying the many 'greens' and 'blues' of the planet Earth: the tropical green rainforests and the blue seas and oceans, which are the homes of the world's largest whales. Afterwards, they ask their "What if?" question and the show transitions into the cartoon segment.
The crew are disturbed by sudden tremors happening within the Tortuga HQ. Those tremors are soon revealed to the washing machine as there is a big pile of blue and green clothes in the basement; It is Laundry Day. Chris and Martin argue over the assortment of their laundry, which soon turns into a disagreement about green forests and blue oceans. After a brief musical number in which the brothers express their love for the biomes of their favorite colors, they quickly storm out, despite the rest of the crew's attempts to get them to reconcile. The crew soon resolve to bring Chris and Martin back together by showing them the equal importance of the Earth's 'blues and greens.'
Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy locate the brothers. Martin is swimming across the Atlantic Ocean in his Dolphin Power Suit, whilst Chris is flying in the Central American rainforest in his miniaturized Hummingbird Power Suit. As the crew makes observations about the two different biomes such as water quantity and the equator, the brothers continue to argue in favorite of their respective biomes. Unbeknownst to the crew, Zach Varmitech and Paisley Paver collaborate to make a beach-front resort with staffing provided by the Zachbots. To do so, they intend on finding and destroying a beach-adjacent rainforest.
In the Amazon, the Chris helps the crew observe how plants within the green forests provide oxygen, whilst they are dependent on animals' exhaust of carbon dioxide. When he finds a resplendent quetzal, it begins to rain. Aviva attempts to use the rain's plenishment of the forest to unite the brothers, but it once again falls upon deaf ears as Martin searches for the largest animal in the world, the blue whale. However, Martin accidentally bumps into an adult blue whale, deactivating his suit, before getting swallowed by a blue whale calf. He observes the baleen inside the whale's mouth that filters the krill of which the whale preys upon. Martin is fortunately able to escape the mouth of the whale calf before naming him Kabluey. Meanwhile, a deactivated Chris who's gone back to normal size, shows up on the screen, being constricted by a green anaconda. The brothers' predicaments whilst they're split up further worries the crew, before Aviva reveals that she has invented an Anaconda Power Disc for Chris's Creature Power Suit, modified from the Python Power Disc, and done so with the facts gathered about the constrictor during the crew's previous adventures in the Amazon rainforest. Jimmy teleports the disc to Chris, who activates his Creature Power Suit with Anaconda Powers, setting him free. Using his new suit, Chris is able to better cruise the rainforest, from the land, to the Amazon River, and all the way into the ocean, which is where the rain in the forest originates from via evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The crew's demonstration of the water cycle is still not enough to get the brothers to work together, as Chris argues about how the food chain involving the blue whale starts at green phytoplankton, whilst Martin requests Aviva to invent a blue-whale inspired Creature Power Suit. However, the crew is still unaware of Zach and Paisley's destructive plot to find and destroy a rainforest.
Chris deactivates in Madagascar and comes across an endangered green-eyed indri, the largest living lemur in the world that can sing, not unlike the blue whale. Seeing the brothers mimic their respective animals' singing gives Aviva an idea. She begins working on two Creature Power Discs — inspired by both the blue whale and indri — at the same time. Jimmy Z and Koki protest at this never-before-done feat, but Aviva insists, believing that getting the brothers to activate Creature Powers would be the only way to bring them back together, putting an end to their rivalry. And when the crew sees Zach and Paisley, the Kratt Brothers work together to stop them and save the environment.
Unfortunately, Chris' Indri Power Suit can't be used in water. So, Aviva decides to rewound the suit back to Anaconda Power. But then, a malfunction causes Chris to turn into an indri-conda. Chris doesn't think that the malfunction can help him stop the Zachbots, but he manages to find a solution. Frustrated, Zach orders his Distrupt-o-bot to deactivate Chris. Without his Indri-conda Power Suit, Chris is defenseless. And when the Zachbots try to capture him, he goes underwater to escape from them.
While Chris hides from the Zachbots, an octopus saves him by destroying them. At that moment, Paisley tries to tell the Wild Kratts crew to move out of the way. But when she sees the coral reef on the screen, she is amazed. And then, the crew tells Paisley that if they don't keep nature clean, the Earth can get polluted. Realizing that nature should be taken care of, Paisley decides to retire from villainy, much to Zach's surprise and anger.
By working together, the Wild Kratts crew and Paisley are able to keep nature and the Earth clean and healthy. Even better, Martin and Chris agree that blue and green are better together.
The show transitions into another live-action segment, where the Kratt Brothers are seen looking at the whale in the ocean. At the end of the segment, Martin and Chris conclude the one-hour special by saying that plants and animals need a blue and green Earth to survive. They also say, "Keep on creature adventuring. We'll see you on the creature trail!"

Trivia[]
- This is the second episode and only special where Chris and Martin creature adventure alone. The first being "Baby Tooth & Kid Musky".
- This is the first time in the show's history that a villain is redeemed; In this case, it's. Paisley. She ceases her ways of destruction and uses her abilities to help nature rather than harm.
- Her henchman, Rex, is notably absent in this episode. Because of this, it's currently unknown whether or not he has or will redeem himself alongside Paisley, or remain a solo villain.
- This is the first time the Kratt Brothers argue and split up.
- This episode was originally titled "Blue and Green: The Living Earth".
- Despite this, the special's airings on TVO Kids outside of the U.S. retain its original title.
- This episode marks the return of the Draco Lizard Power Suit since its debut episode, "Flight of the Draco", as well as the Walrus Power Suit since "Creature Power Challenge".
- Blue crab Power was among the Creature Powers in Chris' Creature Power Suit when Aviva starts to rewound Indri Power back to Anaconda Power, even though a Blue Crab Power Disc hasn't been confirmed in the show yet.
- When Aviva decides to program two Creature Power Suits at the same time, Jimmy and Koki tell her that it has never been done before. But in earlier episodes, Aviva was able to program two Creature Power Suits at the same time. She programmed Giant Squid and Sperm Whale Power in "Whale of a Squid", Honeyguide and Honey Badger Power in "Honey Seekers", Remora and Great White Shark Power in "Stuck on Sharks", Blue Marlin and Swordfish Power in "Choose Your Swordfish," Goliath Tarantula and Vampire Bat Power in "Creepy Creatures!", and Snowshoe Hare and Jackrabbit Power in "In Search of the Easter Bunny".
- This is the fourth episode where a Creature Power Suit containing multiple Creature Powers in a malfunction is activated and used. Coincidentally enough, this is the first time where Chris is involved in a hybrid Creature Power Suit (not counting Wild Kratts Live. 2.0)
- Blue Whales are the second species of baleen whale to appear in the series. For the longest time, Bowhead Whales were the only species of baleen whale to appear in 2 episodes.
- On May 4th, 2024, Our Blue and Green World was screened at Premiere Cinemas in Lubbox Cinemas for free as part of PBS Kids' Family Movie Day. Thus, this special is the first episode to ever be re-released theatrically as opposed to DVD and streaming, as well as the first episode to receive theatrical attention overall.[1]
- It's also the first theatrically released Wild Kratts media, followed by the upcoming feature film based on the series that was announced in 2021.
- This is the first time more than one species of dinosaur is mentioned, as well as images being shown.
- The message of this special is climate change and why wildlife must be protected as well as the environment.
