The Mole-like Rice Tenrec (Oryzorictes hova), also known as the fossorial tenrec or hova rice tenrec, is a species of mammal in the family Tenrecidae. It is endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, swamps, freshwater lakes, irrigated land, and seasonally flooded agricultural land. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Similar to a mole, the mole-like rice tenrec prefers to live deep underground where it uses its keen sense of smell and hearing to detect its surroundings. It also uses these senses to hunt for prey, such as earthworms and other invertebrates. Although it is carnivorous, mole-like rice tenrecs have been known to eat vegetation.
