They get their name because of their ability to run through the trees like squirrels. They're upper legs, or thighs, are shorter than their calves. This lets them leap far. They can leaping 4 feet from a standing point. They don't have prehensile tails, except when infants, but use them much more for balance. They're also one of the only primates that have fingerprints that resemble human ones. This gives them a strong grip and makes them extremely dexterous. They eat fruit when it's available, primarily between January and June, and also eats insects. |
