"Gila Monster Under My House", sometimes styled as "Gila Monsters Under My House", is the 20th episode of the second season of Wild Kratts, originally airing on PBS Kids on August 20, 2013. Overall, it is the 60th episode of the series. The episode was written and directed by Martin Kratt.
In this episode, Wild Kratts kid Javier finds a Gila monster under his porch in the Sonoran Desert. Terrified, he calls the Wild Kratts, and the Kratt brothers head to his house. They show him that Gila monsters are nothing to be afraid of by introducing its features and abilities. But when the Wild Kratts team notices that Zach Varmitech is collecting Gila monsters for a line of power wrenches, the Wild Kratts team races to prevent more Gila monsters from being captured, and to stop Zach before he flies away with the Gila monsters he has already captured.
Plot[]
The episode begins with a live-action segment. The Kratt Brothers are biking in the desert when they stop in front of a Gila Monster. Afterwards, they ask their "What if?" question and the show transitions into the cartoon segment.
Somewhere in the Sonoran Desert, a Wild Kratts kid named Javier notices a Gila Monster under the porch of his house and immediately calls the Wild Kratts. Martin and Chris Kratt get into the Createrra VX and head to his house to show him that Gila Monsters are nothing to be afraid of. The first thing that the Kratt Brothers tell Javier is that although Gila Monsters have a powerful bite, they will not hold on forever. Not far away in his plane, Zach overhears this fact and plots to take advantage of the Gila Monsters' jaw strength to make a line of power wrenches.

The next thing that the Kratt Brothers say is that Gila Monsters are inactive lizards that spend most of their time lying in shady areas. Afterward, Martin mentions that, although Gila Monsters are venomous lizards, they are more defensive than offensive, but Javier still feels scared and refuses to change his mind on Gila Monsters. Knowing that Gila Monsters are large lizards, the Kratt Brothers miniaturize, believing that if the Gila Monster doesn't bother little people like them, it will not bother a kid like Javier. The Gila Monster leaves the understory of the house's porch and Javier and the brothers follow it. After the Gila Monster finishes eating a couple of eggs, it returns to the house's porch, but not before fighting another male Gila Monster, who is younger than him, but could still be a rival, nonetheless. Seeing how their Gila Monster locks its jaw onto the other Gila Monster, Martin names their Gila Monster Lockjaw. Javier is extremely impressed by what he has seen Lockjaw do, and excitedly runs back to his house to see him.
Back in the Tortuga, Jimmy is listening to music and sees what he thinks is a Zachbot. He asks if Aviva sees any up where she is. She looks and she indeed finds a Zachbot. Koki sees another one and she goes with Aviva on the latter's Hoverbike to follow the Zachbots. They find them collecting Gila Monsters, but they don't know why. Zach terms his Zachbots good because they brought lots of Gila Monsters. But then, he finds out that they also brought him two Wild Kratts, and calls them bad robots. Aviva and Koki order Zach to return the Gila Monsters from where they're supposed to be or they will either force him to do so or put them back for him. Zach instead fires the disrupto-beam on the Hoverbike and goes away laughing. Aviva claims that she doesn't like seeing her inventions destroyed, especially by Zach. And then, she declares that she is now really mad. Koki explains to her that although Zach can withstand Gila Monsters, maybe he can also withstand the Gila Monster Power Suit. This cools Aviva down, and they head to Javier's house.
Koki and Aviva arrive at Javier's house and tell the Kratt Brothers that Zach is collecting Gila Monsters and they don't know what he's up to, the Kratt Brothers return to normal size to find Zach's Ship. During that time, Koki guards the Gila Monster under Javier's porch. They find it out in the open and Jimmy teleports the Gila Monster Discs. On Zach's Ship, his production of power wrenches begins and incorporates the bite of the Gila Monster for added grip, Zach tries a wrench to turn a nut, but the wrench is too heavy. Without Zach realizing it, a Zachbot helps him, and Zach believes that his wrenches work. Martin and Chris arrive at Zach's Ship, but a Zachbot is guarding the entrance. Then, it occurs to them to use a hologram of a Gila Monster, and the Zachbot believes it. In fact, the Zachbots don't know that Gila Monsters don't walk fast and get on two legs. Then, the Gila Monster hologram flies away, which makes the Zachbot fly off to chase it,. Later, the Kratt Brothers activate their Creature Power Suits, and they use their jaws to throw Zach's Zachbots around. Zach notices this, triggers a trap, and bounces the two out of his plane. Drills then protrude out of his plane, and it disappears into the ground. This doesn't stop the Kratt Brothers because they know that Gila Monsters can dig. But once inside, Zach refuses to release the Gila Monsters, and he claims that they are under his control. Martin warns Zach that Gila Monsters have a powerful bite. Zach sits on a cage of Gila Monsters and underestimates them by saying that the Gila monster can't bite or even move. However, Martin isn't talking about the one that Zach is holding. He's talking about the one in the cage, which is when the Gila Monster bites his behind, and doesn't let go. Chris tells Zach that they warned him to be careful, and Zach complains about the pain that he is feeling. Zach then realizes what Martin said after that happens. The Kratt Brothers make a deal with him: They will take him to the Tortuga and agree to find a way to get the Gila Monster off of him if and only if he releases the Gila Monsters from their power wrench suits. Zach hastily tosses his controller to them, and they release the Gila Monsters.
The Kratt Brothers bring Zach to the Tortuga, where Zach is whining. Aviva asks how that happened. Zach hastily apologizes to Aviva for all the bad things that he has done and begs her to get the Gila Monster off. Chris tells Zach to be quiet and to not move, so that the Gila Monster will let him go. And with that, the Gila Monster lets Zach go. But the pain from the venom is still lingering in the robotic inventor's system. So, Aviva gives him some Gila Monster antivenom. Zach complains about the needle after feeling it, and Aviva tells him that it should already be feeling better. Zach says that it is feeling better, but he blames the Wild Kratts for giving him the impression that Gila Monsters are worth messing with. And then, he starts to believe that they're dangerous, just as the Gila Monster growls at him, resulting him in escaping the Tortuga, and running back to his plane, screaming. Just then, Javier calls the Wild Kratts to come to his house because the Gila Monster eggs are hatching. They go to his house and watch as a Gila Monster egg under Javier's porch hatches, and Javier says, "I love Gila Monsters, and I'm so glad they live under my house."
The show transitions into the ending live-action segment. The Kratt Brothers spend more time with the Gila Monster, and after getting on their bikes, they conclude the episode by saying, "Keep on creature adventuring. We'll see you on the creature trail!"

Trivia[]
- Even though Zach apologized to Aviva for capturing creatures and stealing her inventions, he still continues to do that later on in the series.
- Zach destroys the hoverbike in this episode. However, its appearance in future episodes indicates that Aviva repaired it.
- It’s possible that this episode takes place directly after the ending of Roadrunner. At the beginning, Koki mentions that prior to Javier’s call, the crew was just leaving the Sonoran Desert to get resupplied, implying that they were letting the mystery lizard that Chris found go before getting the call. Similarly, Chris mentions that there’s still a lot to learn about Gila Monsters, referring to their past encounter with one during the mystery lizard search.
- In real life, there is no cure for Gila Monster venom. However, fortunately for Zach, it's rarely fatal on healthy adults.
