The Gartered Trogon (Trogon caligatus) is a species of bird from the rainforests of Mexico, Central, and northern South America. Along with the Amazonian trogon (T. ramonianus), it was formerly treated as a subspecies of the Guianan trogon (T. violaceous) up until the early 2000s, forming a species then known as the violaceous trogon.

Gartered trogons are omnivorous, mainly feeding on fruit and arthropods, but are more frugivorous than most other trogons. Typical among members of its family, it tends to perch vertically in the trees. Their legs are among the shortest of any bird species in comparison to their body size. Because of this, they are unable to walk and are restricted to an arboreal lifestyle.
