The Gadwall (Mareca strepera) is a species of dabbling duck native across North America and Eurasia. They feed on plants, insects, and occasionally mollusks. To feed, they dabble their bills across the surface of the water and consume any matter that they may come across. Male gadwalls aren't as brightly colored as the males of some other duck species, more closely resembling females. As adults, some of their predators include eagles, falcons, bobcats, coyotes, and gray wolves. Predators that are a threat to their ducklings include herons, fish, and gulls.
