The Frigate Tuna (Auxis thazard), or frigate mackerel, is a species of tuna in the family Scombridae, found around the world in tropical oceans. The eastern Pacific population is now regarded as a separate species by some authorities, Auxis brachydorax.
These fish are able to live for 5 years, and are omnivores. They are a great source of food for animals like barracudas, sea lions, seals, larger tuna, dolphins, mako sharks, pelicans, and many species of billfish like swordfish, blue marlins, and sailfish.
