The Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx) is a medium-sized wild cat native to Northern, Central and Eastern Europe to Central Asia and Siberia, the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas. It inhabits temperate and boreal forests up to an elevation of 5,500 m (18,000 ft).
The Eurasian lynx is closely related to its cousins the Canada lynx and the bobcat. There are many ways to distinguish the 2 main lynx species. For example: the Eurasian lynx is bigger than both species and has a tan coat, but both the Canada and Eurasian lynx are easily recognizable as lynxes by the thick fur, large snowshoe-like paws, and noticeable ear tufts. The Eurasian lynx will hunt a wide variety of prey from small voles and hares to deer when they get the opportunity.
