The Domestic Sheep (Ovis aries), also simply called sheep, are quadrupedal, ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock. Like most ruminants, sheep are members of the order Artiodactyla, the even-toed ungulates. Although the name sheep applies to many species in the genus Ovis, in everyday usage it almost always refers to this species. They can be found almost worldwide. They are raised as livestock for their wool, which can be used to make certain kinds of clothing, as well as for food. Male sheep, known as rams, have horns, while female sheep, called ewes, don't have them. There are several different breeds of sheep, each with different coat colors and horn shapes in males.
