The Desert Pebble Mantis (Eremiaphila zetterstedti) is a species of praying mantis from the deserts of North Africa. Its name originates from the gray color of its body, which enables it to camouflage itself amongst the desert pebbles. Instead of waiting for their prey like most mantids, the desert pebble mantis has extremely long legs that enable it to actively run its prey down. Interestingly, unlike other mantids, who molt hanging upside down, the desert pebble mantis molts right side up.
