The Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) is a species of cavy-like rodent native to most of the Amazon Basin. They are the largest rodents in the world, weighing up to 150 pounds. They live in social herds on both land and in water. Being amphibious, they can escape predators in the water like green anacondas, and escape predators on land like jaguars. They have partially webbed feet for swimming and strong toes for running on land. They can run up to 22 mph, as fast as a young horse. They have their eyes, ears, and nostrils positioned on the top of their heads so they can be fully submerged with only these features sticking out.
