Trivia[]
- The live-action segments of "Activate Kid Power" take place on the Rocky Mountain front in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex of Montana in a wildlife refuge created by the Kratt Brothers Creature Hero Foundation. The refuge's name is Grizzly Gulch, and it's unlisted on maps, likely to help protect it. It's located south of the Blackfeet reservation in the Sawtooth Mountains, and is accessible from the town of Dupuyer. The refuge forms the basis for the bear rescue location in the episode.
- Karl is named after Karl Rappold, the caretaker of Grizzly Gulch. Karl's grandfather is modeled after Mr. Rappold.
- The concept of kids building habitats for creatures was previously used in the "Wild Kratts and their Habitats" activity as part of the interactive "Summer Adventure," as a tie-in to the game, "Creature Roundup."
- This episode depicts several Creature Power Suits that were previously not introduced in the series. However, some of them may have explanations:
- Chris activates Humpback Whale Power during the "Activate Your Creature Power" musical sequence as he and Martin head to Australia. However, the suit would be created and introduced in the following episode, "Mini Heroes and Mighty Mouths", indicating that this episode was aired out of order in the seventh season.
- Chris uses both Eucalyptus Power and Koala Power to rescue Koala Balloon from the burnt down eucalyptus forest. The latter suit was alluded to in the Season 1 episode, "Octopus Wildkratticus" by Aviva when describing the Creature Powers that the Kratt Brothers may not use again unless they rescue the Creature Power Suits from a malfunctioned Seven.
- Koki uses Gull Power to rescue the protect the baby sea turtles near the bach. In the Season 4 premiere, "The Last Largest Lobster," the Kratt Brothers suggest that Aviva programs the blank Creature Power Disc with Seagull Power. It's possible that Aviva invented a Seagull Power Disc offscreen, following the events of that episode.
- Martin activates Elk Power to rescue the baby grizzly bear from a ditch caused by construction. It's unknown when the Kratt Brothers received Elk Discs for their Creature Power Suits. However, it's likely that Aviva invented the discs offscreen during an untelevised adventure, or the episode is aired out of order in relation to a future episode.
- This special marks the return of several Creature Power Suits from previous seasons:
- This is the first appearance of the Red Kangaroo Power Suit since its debut in the Season 1 episode, "Kickin' It With the Roos."
- This is the first episode, as well as the first piece of Wild Kratts media, to depict Martin in the Kangaroo Power Suit's adult variant. Prior appearances of Martin's usage of the suit, including the suit's debut episode and several online games, depict him in the suit's joey form.
- Interestingly enough, both Martin and Chris appear to be in the suit's female variant that contains the pouch.
- This is the first episode, as well as the first piece of Wild Kratts media, to depict Martin in the Kangaroo Power Suit's adult variant. Prior appearances of Martin's usage of the suit, including the suit's debut episode and several online games, depict him in the suit's joey form.
- This is the first appearance of the Florida Panther Power Suit since its debut in the Season 3 episode, "Search for the Florida Panther.
- This is the first appearance of the Swordfish Power Suit since its debut in the Season 5 episode, "Choose Your Swordfish."
- In "Choose Your Swordfish", Chris uses the Swordfish Power Suit. In this one-hour special, Koki is the one who uses it.
- This is the first appearance of the Pelican Power Suit since the Season 4 episode, "This Orca Likes Sharks."
- This is the first appearance of the Hermit Crab Power Suit since the Season 4 episode, "Stars of the Tides."
- This is the first appearance of the Sea Turtle Power Suit since its debut in the Season 2 episode, "Tortuga Tune Up."
- This is the first appearance of the Grizzly Bear Power Suit since its debut in the one-hour Season 5 premiere, "Wild Kratts Alaska: Hero's Journey".
- This is the first appearance of the Golden Orb Weaver Spider Power Suit since the one-hour Season 6 special, "Amazin' Amazon Adventure".
- This is the first appearance of the Red Kangaroo Power Suit since its debut in the Season 1 episode, "Kickin' It With the Roos."
- This special features the most amount of Creature Powers used in one episode, maxing out at 16 Creature Power Suit activations.
- This episode takes place roughly a year after the events “Bumblezzzz”, as indicated by the re-appearance of the Bumblebee Power Suit and Bumblezzzz herself; In that episode, it’s noted to be the first day of summer (June 20th) whilst this special takes place in the following spring (March, April, or May) in which the grizzly bears are shown to exit hibernation to begin feasting. This would indicate that in between 9 and 11 months have passed since the events of “Bumblezzzz.”
- Despite touching a peregrine falcon and activating Peregrine Falcon Powers, Aviva erroneously narrates her activation being that of a prairie falcon, which is a vastly different species of falcon.
- This special is the first to feature a musical number that was sung by Pure West, who both composes the show's soundtrack and sings the series’ theme song.
- In this special, Paisley revealed that she changed her surname from Paver to Planter.
- Not counting a redeemed Paisley, this is the second one-hour special that has no villains. The first being "Wild Kratts Alaska: Hero's Journey".
- The wildfire aftermath is likely a reference to the large bushfires Australia had in 2019/2020, known as the Black Summer.
- The eastern cottontail shown in the episode is slightly misplaced. Eastern cottontails do live in Montana, but they don't range as far west as the Rocky Mountain Front.
Key Facts and Creature Moments[]
- Baby sea turtles use light reflecting off of the ocean to find their way to the water after hatching. But when they hatch near human settlements, the lights in town can confuse them and cause them to go the wrong way.
- Roads are a big cause of habitat loss for animals. Not only do they bisect an animal's territory, but vegetation that the animals depend on has to be removed in order to build the road.
- Acacia leaves are among a rhino's favorite foods.
- Kids have the powers of imagination, compassion and the ability to learn, and they can use these powers to help animals wherever they are.
